Edward C. Horton has over 40 years of experience as an accounting, auditing, and consulting advisor to emerging and mid-sized businesses. He is a member of the firm’s Audit and Attest Committee.

Experience

Ed provides a variety of accounting, auditing, tax, and consulting services to closely held businesses in diverse industries. His areas of expertise include business and individual tax planning and optimization, as well as strategic business planning.

Ed is often involved in providing guidance to clients concerning succession, retirement, and estate planning. He also has extensive experience in merger and acquisition activities, including negotiations, due diligence, and structuring of transactions to optimize financial and tax aspects.

Ed writes articles on various business issues, which have appeared in the New York Law Journal, NJBIZ, COMMERCE, and New Jersey CPA. Ed is also a frequent moderator and featured industry speaker on a variety of issues that affect closely-held businesses, including succession planning, shareholder and partnership agreements, valuation, and profitability enhancement.

Prior to joining Citrin Cooperman, Ed spent 15 years as the managing partner of Horton & Company. He also previously spent seven years at a national firm.

Outside The Office

Ed and his wife have four children, and he likes to spend his time traveling with his family. He is a history enthusiast, with ancestral ties to the early settlers of the United States.
